"No matter how different we may be from each other, if we treat each other with respect we can always be friends!" - Michael Darby
I Have a Friend Who... contains 25 pages of principle based veracity portrayed in its greatest simplicity to allow all children understand. It explores discrimination based on ethnicity, economics, physical attributes, and gender, and works to solve these problems of discrimination by example.
Author Michael Darby is one of America's leading advocates for safe learning environments. In a film Produced by Universal Pictures, he worked alongside today's leading social commentators, writers, and thinkers, including the Dalai Lama, Noam Chomsky, Maya Angelou, and Steven Hawkings, to share his views on how to make the world a better place. He has also received awards from the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the Los Angeles Music Awards for his behavioral songwriting. Michael's book, I Have a Friend Who... includes a free original children's song called "Picking On Me." Both the book and song are designed to help children recognize and discover the best part of who they are and who they can become. The Department of Education recently listed children being picked on as the number one reason kids have a hard time learning in the classroom. Every child deserves to have a safe learning environment, and Michael's hope is that this book will get them started in the right direction.
